"Dessert" - 1/1/26

The cliché about women and chocolate is everything and true
I try not to eat sugar these days but I find other ways
Coconut-sweetened, date-indebted, pure cacao -
Whatever it takes damn I need it now...

I thought these years were behind me
I gave up on what used to define me, blind me
The romance of my yesteryears before cells went rogue
Before silence swept (wept) tears

Can you hear the phone trying hard to define me
Breathing heavily as I hold it too close I know better radiation’s bad for me
But so is going out in the snow without more than a sweater
I've told you things I didn't even remember such is the gravity

Of the "s" in surrender, soulful stranger; the hissing of the serpent
Exiting the building or is it entering am I Lilith, Eve, or Pandora
Pondering....
