Beacon-based visual artist and self-described "cancer thriver" Rachael Sage has been creating mixed-media artwork, drawing and painting since grade school. Working with both oils and acrylics, ink, eco-glitter and textiles, Sage enjoys merging her colorful, urban aesthetic with the more meditative aspects of Hudson Valley life; since lockdown, she has created over 200 large and small scale visual works, reflective of her seemingly boundless optimism even in the face of loss.
Sage is also a singer-songwriter, producer and poet who runs her own record label MPress Records. Sage's paintings have been been displayed in small galleries throughout Manhattan's East Village, in addition to appearing in her CD and vinyl artwork, in her videos and onstage in the form of decorated instruments and "wearable art". An award-winning art director who has received the GDUSA American Package Design Award two years in a row, Sage's current album Another Side – replete with individual paintings accompanying each track – was released in May 2024.
